Tuberous Sclerosis Complex
Signs & Symptoms of Tuberous Sclerosis Complex
Each case of TSC is unique. Depending on the individual, the benign tumors caused by TSC can impact many different areas of the body. TSC often affects the brain, heart, lungs, skin, kidneys, and eyes, but is not limited to these areas.
Common TSC symptoms include seizures, cognitive disabilities, behavioral issues, skin problems, and difficulties impacting the heart, lungs, eyes, kidneys, and other affected organs. TSC is often detected in babies who suffer infantile spasms, a type of seizure. Awareness of such early symptoms is crucial to allowing those with TSC to lead their best possible lives.
